Tuxer Glacier The Tuxer valley is a romantic high valley at the end of the Zillertal. With its impressive ice masses the Hintertuxer glacier is the ideal skiing region during all four seasons. The access to the 10 km long and important cave of Tyrol is located below the so called Spannagelhouse at the Hintertuxer glacier. At guided tours through the cave Spannagelhöhle you can admire dripstones, crytals and karst formations.
Lake Achensee Lake Achen is Tyrol's largest lake - crystal-clear and emerald green, a fjord between the Karwendel- and Rofan Mountains. The Karwendel Massif, which frames the lake to the west, is Europe'sd largest nature reserve area. A hike around Lake Achen is very rewarding - one can also complete the tour of the lake on a boat. Schlegeis storage lake The Schlegeis storage is with 126,5 m³ content the biggest storage lake of the Tauern power station. Tratzberg Castle Was build 1500 m high above the Inn valley, between Kufstein and Innsbruck, and was already in use of emperor Maximilian and the Fuggers as a hunting castle. The building structure was enlarged in the Renaissance and feudally equipped. Silvermine Schwaz The mother of all mines. You can really get insight into how those 11,000 boys had to work so hard to dig for silver and copper over 500 years ago. In the 15th and 16th century the hard-working miners made Schwaz into the 2nd largest town in Austria. The Tyrol became the richest land in Europe at that time. Schwaz was made into the largest silver-mining metropolis in the world.
