Racing downhill in the Zillertal

Cycling and mountain biking in the Zillertal is pure pleasure. However, if you rather ride downhill than uphill, there are four adventurous single trails that will get your adrenaline flowing. The Wiesenalm trail which starts at the middle station of the Rosenalmbahn gondola lift offers more than 5 kilometres full of twists, pumps and Northshore elements. The Isskogel trails and the bike park Mayrhofen also offer some thrilling rides.

In Gerlos, it’s up to you to choose from hiking trails that range from leisurely strolls to quaint mountain huts to conquering summits. The Zillertal boasts 800 kilometres of well-groomed hiking trails for all abilities: 136 kilometres of Nordic walking trails, 15 easy, 51 moderately difficult and 9 difficult hiking trails, 9 themed hikes and more than 40 cosy mountain huts, eateries and restaurants.

A hiking paradise on the doorstep

At the Hotel Gaspingerhof, your hiking holidays in the Zillertal start right on the doorstep. The free hiking bus which stops directly in front of the hotel takes you to the starting points of the most scenic tours of the Zillertal Arena. Many tours can be started directly at the hotel.

One of the highlights of your hiking holidays in Tirol is definitely a tour into the five side valleys of Gerlos (Schwarzachtal, Wimmertal, Krumbachtal, Schönachtal and Wildgerlostal), which attract hikers with their unspoilt nature. Whether you’re a pleasure hiker or summiteer, there’s plenty of tours available, for example to the Richter mountain hut or the Krimmler Tauernhaus.

Hiking in Gerlos – loop trails and summit victories

There’s a lot to explore in the Zillertal: Numerous loop trails are waiting to be discovered. A leisurely tour for beginners is the two-hour tour around the reservoir. Seasoned hikers can tackle the seven-hour loop trail to the Arbiskogel and the Wildspitze.

Gerlos is also a perfect family-friendly mountain destination. The whole family can explore the local flora and fauna on various themed hiking trails such as the yodel trail in Königsleiten, the alpine animal nature trail, or the adventure trail. If you’re aiming high, you will find many exhilarating summits on altitudes up to 3000 metres.

Family Ski Holidays in Tirol

Winter Holidays with Children in the Zillertal

The Zillertal in Tirol is a wonderful base for versatile winter family holidays. Whether on the ski slopes, on the toboggan runs or during an exciting excursion: There’s an abundance of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Many new friends can be found during childcare at the hotel where the children engage in various games and activities. Childcare at the hotel for children aged 5 years and over in the main holiday seasons from Sunday to Friday from 16.00 to 21.00 (from mid-December to the beginning of March and during Easter holidays). In winter, family holidays in the Zillertal center around the ski slopes. Fun in the snow is guaranteed while the kids practice their first ski turns in the Arena Kids Club.

Our little guests should not miss a visit to the Arena Kids Club, the highest elevation kindergarten in Tirol, which is situated directly at the Isskogelbahn mountain station. While the adults spend a relaxed day on the ski slopes, children aged 1 to 4 years are well catered for. The Arena Kids Club is open from Sunday to Friday from 9.00 to 15.30 and has a children’s restaurant.

Michi’s ski school is perfect for aspiring little skiers. Children will learn their first ski turns in a playful way. The highlights: the conveyor belt for children, the perfect “ski lift” without rope or safety bar, the children’s disco with mascot Billi, and the children’s ski race with award ceremony.

Plenty of action for teenagers

Teenagers have their own mind. The Gaspingerhof offers many possibilities for spending an exciting time with peers. In the winter, everything centers around the ski slopes. Michi’s ski school offers special courses for teenagers. Seasoned skiers can explore the numerous halfpipes, kickers and rails in the Snowpark Gerlos.

Speed queens and thrill-seekers can test their skills at the speed check and ski movie runs. Families should not miss a ride on the Arena Coaster, the first alpine roller coaster in the Zillertal, with 360° curves, rapid waves and cool jumps.

The difficult “calves workout” hike on Monday, the moderately difficult hiking tour to the Isskogel on Tuesdays, canyoning in the Schwarzach gorge on Wednesdays – there’s a range of activities to choose from during your activity holidays in the Zillertal.
