Winter Holidays in Tirol
Discover the Zillertal off the ski slopes
It’s not all about the skiing and snowboarding. There’s an abundance of winter activities to engage in: Explore the snowy landscape during a leisurely winter or snowshoe hike, or discover romantic valleys on cross-country skis. Various natural toboggan runs and ice rinks provide fun for the whole family.
The gentle winter experience in Gerlos
Snowflakes are falling and no sound disturbs the winter idyll. Just feel your heartbeat while the snow crunches under your feet. Discover the quiet beauty of the winter on 25 km of winter hiking trails in the vicinity of the Gaspingerhof, for example in the romantic side valleys such as the Krummbach or the Wimmertal.
A snowshoe excursion through the winter scenery is a unique experience. Take a leisurely tour in pristine powder snow, through romantic forests past frozen mountain streams. Ski tourers and backcountry skiers will find perfect conditions in Gerlos. Our tip: Every Monday and Wednesday ski touring enthusiasts meet at the mountain hut “Arbiskogelhütte” in the Gerlosstein ski area.
Venture onto the ice
How about taking a leisurely spin on the ice? In Gerlos, the floodlit ice rink next to the tennis court is open daily from 16.00 to 22.00 for ice stock sports. A highlight is the weekly guest tournament on the ice rink in Krimml. In winter, the leisure park Zell is transformed into a 1,800m² ice paradise for ice skating, ice hockey and ice stocks sports.
Exhilarating toboggan rides and romantic sleigh rides
If you like winter fun, you should not miss a day on one of the toboggan runs in Gerlos. The Gerlossteinbahn gondola takes you to the starting point at an altitude of 1,650 metres. The family-friendly descent is the longest toboggan run of the Zillertal with a total of 7 kilometers and is even illuminated until 1.00.
Docile Noriker and Haflinger horses pull your horse sleigh though the winter scenery of the Zillertal – a unique romantic experience for lovers and an unforgettable excursion for the whole family.
